Alistair served as an Infantry Officer in the New Zealand Army for over a decade, which included active duty tours to East Timor and Afghanistan.
Whilst taking a break from Army life, Alistair became absorbed in Yoga and Meditation practices. This started an incredible journey of self-inquiry that eventually led him to become a Yoga Teacher and started teaching other Veterans, First Responders (police, firefighters, prison officers etc) and their families, which included assisting in the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) sufferers.
Having completed his 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training at Kawai Purapura as well as Trauma-Conscious Yoga, Mindful Resilience, Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Mindful Yoga Therapy (MYT) and VETOGA trainings in the United States, Alistair is extremely passionate about sharing these life-changing practices with others.
Alistair’s workshops are available for all people regardless of experience level or physical ability. His aim is to generate an open and inclusive space where all people feel comfortable to explore all facets of themselves. Encouraging everyone to experience for themselves the transformational power of these ancient practices as well as providing practical tools that can be taken away and used in everyday life.
In recent years, Alistair has also become heavily involved in guiding other men through challenging circumstances and internal growth as part of Men’s Gatherings. His aim within these workshops is to cultivate a safe space for men to genuinely express themselves and support each other.
